The BEAR League is working with partners in hopes of launching a pilot program as a potential solution to stop mother bears from teaching their cubs to break into houses. PZP is a vaccination that prevents eggs from being fertilized, and it has a high efficacy rate when administered annually. The goal would be to target sows who display unwanted behavior of breaking into human environments to forage. This vaccination would prevent the bear from reproducing, and thus break the cycle of teaching that behavior to their cubs.
