PINE NUTS: Sneaky Legs, Jasper & Me
Sneaky Legs, Jasper and I turned thirteen and we were feeling our oats, so we concocted this cockamamie scheme to test our courage. Carrying a pick and two shovels on our bikes, we peddled along the railroad tracks that led out of Moraga into the hinterland. Once assured our privacy was secure, we bivouacked and went to work digging a tunnel between two ties, under the tracks. It was tough going and it took us several days to burrow a lair large enough for a body to wriggle into. And once we were satisfied with our work, it came time for Jun-Ken-Po, (Paper-Scissors-Rock) to determine which of the three of us would be first to get run over by a train and live to tell about it. I won.

Well, we were familiar with the train schedule by then and it came my time to meet the iron horse as it were. (If you’re thinking this is stupid, you’re right.)

Incline Village’s Championship Course ranked No. 17 recently in the top 50 on the Golfers’ Choice 2022 list.
“What an honor it is to be included in the Top 50 US Public Courses,” said Championship Course Director of Golf and Community Services Darren Howard in a news release. “I have played several of the Top 50 courses and we are extremely excited to be included with these great courses. To finish No. 17 overall, No. 2 in course conditions, and No. 3 in top layouts is very rare and just proves that we have an incredible team here that provides an incredible golf experience daily.”

Clare Novak, United for Action, will speak about homelessness and the shortage of workforce housing in our community, what is being done to address these related problems, and how we can respond to our neighbors’ rising needs. Their half-hour presentation will be followed by Q & A.

The Lake Tahoe Restoration Act has brought in millions of dollars for Tahoe environmental improvement projects. This year’s funding saw a 148% increase, from $16.1M to $23.8M – an increase of $7.75M. Thank you to our California and Nevada State Senators and representatives for prioritizing Lake Tahoe!

There can never be enough beauty in the world, which is why IVCBA along with Mountain Workspace are proud to host a local artist's gallery in Mountain Workspace's bright and spacious coworking facility. The featured artists rotate every two months and currently, Monika Piper and Liz Paganelli are on view. Stop by from 9-2 Monday through Friday for a little bit of R&R.

Meet Sergeant Peter Sewell. Sergeant Sewell is assigned to Incline Patrol. Additionally, he’s our Honor Guard Commander. Recently, the Incline Education Fund purchased the “Kan Jam” game for Incline Village Deputies to use during school outreach.
Sgt. Sewell tries to hang out with students at Incline Middle School at least once per week. This week, he set up the Frisbee game during IMS lunch and recess. It was a huge hit!

Spending time with local school children is one of the most valuable investments the Sheriff’s Office can make for the future of public safety.
