Submitted by Milt Hymes - We the People Instructor at IHS: I want to celebrate the 13 that dared! Once again, our small school competed with skill against seven other schools in the NV state competition. While we will not be advancing to the next level, the learning that occurred this year is as great as we have seen.
With the adversity of the past two years, the coaches and I created a space where collaboration and intellect were celebrated, where hard work reflected growth, and where grit and teamwork were a source of pride. With enthusiasm, our students presented to scholars from around the country - educators, judges, law school professors, and historians challenged our students to craft and defend complex arguments about challenges in our republic, and our students shined.
This environment for growth is not due to just one or two people (Amy Henderson and I) - it takes a village! The contribution from our coaches and community to that learning environment is something for which I am grateful.
