What most people don’t see at first glance is the vibrant creative community that calls this region home. Nestled in the forests and charming downtown districts awaits a whole new side of the region just waiting to be discovered: the arts scene.
Tahoe-Truckee is home to a wide variety of artists, including painters, photographers, sculptors, poets, writers, musicians and other creative souls who not only are proud to call this place home, but also inspired to share their interpretation and experiences with you through their favorite creative mediums. Below, I have curated a list of some of the most exciting places to explore our local art scene and even create some for yourself to bring back as a souvenir. Enjoy!

Talbot Fine Art Gallery
You really can’t go anywhere in the Tahoe-Truckee region without seeing Chris Talbot’s iconic photography. His stunning works capture classic landmarks and hidden gems and can be found hanging on the walls of hotels, restaurants, local shops and various gift shops.
Located in Incline Village, Talbot Fine Art Gallery allows you to admire his photography and even take your favorite prints home with you.
If you’d like a chance to check out some of Chris Talbot’s favorite locations in the region, he and his brother Darin offer customized tours with their company Around Tahoe Tours, giving you the chance to experience the best of the region including Sand Harbor and Emerald Bay and learn tips and tricks to get the best shots for yourself.

Twilight and Rust Fine Art Photography
Conveniently located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, Twilight and Rust is one of the newest art galleries in the region. Featuring the bold and high-energy images from photographers Jonathan Thompson and Robert Cole, Twilight and Rust showcases an expansive collection of images taken throughout the region in all seasons. These high-quality images capture the best of Tahoe through golden hour, sunset and calm days on the lake and are available to purchase to take home with you for the ultimate vacation keepsake.

Tahoe Art League
Located in South Lake Tahoe, the Tahoe Art League is a nonprofit organization passionate about showcasing fine art, providing art education and enhancing creative influences in the community. Besides operating an art gallery and exhibits, the Tahoe Art League provides workshops, courses, facilitates public art displays and murals, participates in local events and funds scholarships for students in the region.
Their gallery showcases new work every few months, ranging from oil and acrylic paintings to photography to ceramics and jewelry. Artists even sell their finest works here, and you have the opportunity to liven up your home or workspace with local art here.

Gallery Keoki
Keoki Flagg is an award-winning, world-class photographer who seamlessly blends art with adventure. His gallery, located in The Village at Palisades, features captivating panoramic images from Truckee-Tahoe, inspiring expeditions, ski patrol dogs and more from his travels outside the region.
His Olympic Valley studio offers limited-edition prints of his work, all built to order in various sizes and formats to elevate your living or office spaces.

Truckee Art Walk
On the first Saturday of every month, join creative locals and visitors with a stroll through downtown Truckee’s participating galleries, local storefronts and designated vendors. Discover exhibitions, paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations and vibrant crafts from local artists, and connect with the creatives and art aficionados as you wander the charming streets of downtown Truckee. Here, you’ll have a chance to be inspired by art and support the local artisans and businesses that make Truckee so special and charming.
Date: Ongoing as the first Saturday of every month

Created by local artists, Mountain Arts Collective is a lively space in downtown Truckee designed to highlight the local arts scene and inspire creativity. Showcasing a wide variety of mediums, including painting, photography, pottery, jewelry, woodwork, stonework, glasswork and more.

Create Your Own Masterpiece
Feeling inspired by the creative energy? Take initiative to make your own art and learn techniques from local artisans who are dedicated to helping you get your creative juices flowing and bring home a special keepsake you made yourself.
Located in Tahoe City, South Lake Tahoe and Reno, The Hot Spot Studios is a space dedicated to igniting creative energy and producing beautiful keepsakes and memories. Here, you can paint pottery or canvas, make candles, craft mosaics,or build fairy gardens to add to your home or office space, or gift to a loved one!
View Public Art Installations
Art isn’t just limited to galleries, museums and gift shops! If you look closely, you can find beautiful murals and art installations from local artists throughout the region.
To create a seamless blend of public art, nature, and community involvement, The North Tahoe Utility Box Art Project, one of the very first initiatives launching with the North Tahoe Community Alliance Town Center Revitalization Project, aims to support local artists, reduce graffiti and create a welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors with vibrant art displays. Their call for artists of all experience levels just ended, so stay tuned to learn about our new artists and their public works.
