Wylder Hotel Hope Valley, Eastern Sierra History Series: Snowshoe Thompson, Mailman of the Sierra
Event Description:

Wylder Resort Hope Valley (formerly Soresnons) continues its Eastern Sierra history series with a living history presentation, “Snowshoe Thompson, Mailman of the Sierra.” John “Snowshoe” Thompson carried the mail across the deep Sierra Nevada snow during the winter for 20 years. Carrying 80 pounds of mail over the 180-mile round trip in just 5 days on his hand-crafted snow skates (skis), he carried nothing more than a jacket, dried meat and matches. The programs are free and open to the public and will be presented at the Wylder General Store-located ¼ mile east of Wylder Resort on Hwy 88, Hope Valley. Call (760) 920-8061 for more information.
