Remember How They Lived: Indigenous Peoples Day
This gathering is hosted by the Washoe Off-Res in partnership with the Urban Indian Health Institute.
Join us for the Indigenous People's Day MMIR Gathering—an evening of remembrance, learning, advocacy, and community as we honor our missing and murdered Indigenous relatives and remember them for how they lived. This Indigenous Peoples Day gathering will create space to share stories, recognize loved ones, deepen awareness, and take meaningful action.
The evening will include a community remembrance exhibit, a Red Ribbon Remembrance activity, and opportunities for storytelling, learning, and a call to action. Guests are also invited to share stories of their loved ones as part of the gathering.
We are honored to welcome Abigail Echo-Hawk (Pawnee) as our keynote speaker. Echo-Hawk is a nationally recognized MMIP researcher and advocate and co-author of a landmark study focused on missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
