Prescription Drug Take-back Day

Two Locations:

1) Truckee (9am-1pm)- Gateway Shopping Center (in the parking lot in front of Safeway),11290 Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA 96161

2) Tahoe City (9am-12pm)- Old Vacant Fire Station (Above Common’s Beach), 300 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City, CA 96145

Drop off unneeded or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications safely, effectively, and anonymously, at this event. Please put pills into a zip-lock bag and dispose of empty pill bottles in trash or recycling. Keep liquid medications in the original bottle and black-out confidential information and put in zip-lock bag. Sharps are accepted at Tahoe City location but not Truckee location.  

Help protect our water supply by not flushing medications. Help protect our community as some may be abusing drugs taken from the medicine cabinets of family and friends.  

If you can’t make this event, please utilize permanent Rx Drug Bins located at the Truckee Police Department and Placer County Sheriff Office –Tahoe Station, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. 

A collaborative effort of the TT-FWDD Coalition, Placer & Nevada County Health and Human Services, Truckee Police Department, Placer County Sheriff Office, Tahoe Forest Health System, water quality, waste management, Town of Truckee, and the DEA.
