Aloha, Hawaii: A Presentation on the 2022 Pacific Cup
The Tahoe Yacht Club invites the community to a presentation by Erica Mattson Siegel of Tahoe City about the recent Pacific Cup race from San Francisco to Honolulu. Sailing double handed with her stepfather aboard a 24-foot sloop, the two completed the 3,000 miles race in 14 days. Erica has won and received many prestigious sailing and sportsmanship awards nationally and internationally. Erica is a member of the St. Francis Yacht Club and the Richmon Yacht Club, as well as the Tahoe Yacht Club. Erica will cover the boat preparation and configuration, the organization and storage of provisions and the daily schedules and shifts for two sailors as they manage a tiny boat in a gigantic ocean.
This event is a fundraiser for the Junior Sailing Team of the Tahoe Yacht Club. The Tahoe Yacht Club has partnered with the Tahoe Recreational Department (TCPUD) to promote sailing and to provide classes for youth and adults. These classes build teamwork and leadership skills for sailors and increase water safety skills.
