Edric will lead a guided hike along the Tahoe Rim Trail, where you’ll have the opportunity to see stunning examples of these magnificent trees and learn about their crucial role in the ecosystem.
Come meet the western white pine—a towering emblem of the American West, distinguished by its soft needles and stately presence. This remarkable tree is more than just a forest giant; it’s a resilient survivor, facing threats from logging, urban development, and the challenges of a changing climate. An introduced fungus has devastated many western white pines west of the Cascades, making Tahoe a vital stronghold for this majestic species. Enjoy beautiful views of Carson Valley and deepen your understanding of forest ecology, conservation, and the enduring beauty of Tahoe's white pines! This is a moderate 3 miles roundtrip trek. Bring water, snacks and wear close-toed shoes.
