Haruka Fujii With Musubi Trio

Tahoe Music Alive, Haruka Fujii with Musubi Trio
Event Description:

Multi-percussionist Haruka Fujii has become one of the most prominent solo percussionists in the area. With her will be Beni Shinohara on violin and Rayo Furuta on flute (returning to Tahoe from his July 2024 performance with Carol Wincenc). Join us for a superb listening experience at the Fox Cultural Hall (formerly Arts For The Schools).

MUSUBI is a trio of internationally acclaimed musicians: Haruka Fujii of the Grammy Award winning ensemble Silkroad, Ray Furuta, known as “The Rockstar of the Flute,” and the San Francisco Opera Orchestra’s associate principal violinist, Beni Shinohara. Together, they present melodies, rhythm, and harmony from and inspired by Japan. The name Musubi references the Japanese rice-ball and is also the title of a commission work written for the trio. The word also translates to the phrase ”tying a knot” and is often used to indicate the connection between relationships. The program will spotlight their musical friendship through works by local Bay Area composers David Verota and Shinji Eshima, along with some popular folk melodies and masterful works by modern Japanese composers.
