Tahoe Maritime Museum & Gardens, Tahoe Maritime Museum's Summer Lecture Series!
Event Description:

“Beauty and History of the Marine V-12"

Lew Dobbins' lecture from last September is back by popular demand!  It is a semi-technical history of how and when V-12 engines found their way into boats starting in 1904.  This presentation is filled with information and pictures to satisfy those interested in Marine History, as well as the hardcore gear-head.  Lew will touch on some local history as it pertains to Tahoe families and boats, too.  All questions are encouraged.

Antique Marine and Auto Engine Research and Restoration Specialist, Lew Dobbins, has been on Tahoe as a part time (now) and year-round resident for his entire life.  Starting out at a very young age with family and friend’s boats, he has always had a love for Tahoe and its boating world.  The color and history of the people, railroads and marine history of the Tahoe Basin are of special interest and started his drive of historical research.  Lew's first job was at Obexer’s Marina before he could legally drive, and after college he worked for Dick Clarke at Sierra Boat Company in the 70s, building and restoring engines with Dave Chanda.

Today, Lew is retired from the day job and back to restoring all kinds of classic and antique marine engines and electrical systems, and always doing more research.  Join us for an informational night! Light refreshments served.
