Please join us for our October Mingle. We will hear from Piper M Johnson of the famous Piper J Gallery in Truckee.
Piper’s love of skiing brought her from Boston to Lake Tahoe in the mid 1990’s where a friend introduced her to painting. She started out painting acrylic still life as well as landscapes before developing her signature plein air oil paintings and textured abstracts.
She studied under Gregory Kondos, Frank Serrano, Jean Legassick, and Kevin McPhearson. With exhibits at Western Nevada College, the Wilbur May Museum, the North Lake Tahoe Visitors center, and St. Mary’s Art Center in Virginia City. Her work also appeared on the cover of the North Lake Tahoe Weekly Magazine and she was featured on an episode of PBS’s Art Effects.
After owning a gallery in Incline Village for years, Johnson moved to Truckee and opened Piper J Gallery on Donner Pass Road. Recently she opened a sister gallery Ridgeline gallery on the same street. Showcasing artwork from a selection of the regions finest artists. Additionally, she regularly works with Nevada County Arts Council, the Truckee Cultural district and city partners in an effort to build Truckee’s reputation as a destination for fine art. She most recently founded the Truckee Art Walk.
