Emerald Bay State Park

Sierra State Parks Foundation, Emerald Bay State Park

Emerald Bay State Park is adjacent to D.L. Bliss State Park on Lake Tahoe’s west shore. With its rugged shoreline and blue-green water, Emerald Bay is one of the most photographed places in the world. From the scenic overlook on Highway 89, you can see a brilliant panorama of Emerald Bay, Fannette Island, Lake Tahoe and the distant Nevada shore. From behind the visitor center, located at the base of Emerald Bay, nearby Eagle Creek cascades over three falls and disappears into the lake. Hikers can head into nearby Desolation Wilderness or walk the rugged lakeshore to D.L. Bliss along the Rubicon Trail.
