Event Description: 

The Tahoe Area Sierra Club would like to invite the public to learn more about the Washoe Tribe of NV and CA in this well-illustrated and captivating presentation by Herman Fillmore, the Culture/Language Resources Director for the Washoe Tribe of NV and CA. Today’s talk will focus on a general overview of Washoe people and cultural practices within their homelands while also highlighting the need to engage with Indigenous peoples and integrate Indigenous practices and knowledge into the work we do today.

This 40-minute presentation from Herman Fillmore will be held at the South Tahoe Recreation Center’s Aspen Room. Light refreshments will be offered, but we request guests bring reusable water bottles to reduce our plastic waste. Seating will be first come, first serve, so please register and find more information here.
