Birds of Lake Tahoe Hike
The Tahoe Area Sierra Club and Sierra State Parks Foundation will be hosting a Birds of Lake Tahoe hike on National Trails Day where we’ll be exploring the trails around Washoe Meadows State Park to see and identify the birds in the park with Sheryl Ferguson, a local birding expert. Ever wanted to know more about the birds in Lake Tahoe? Wanted to learn how to identify them and get first hand experience in identifying what birds are flying above you during your walks and hikes?
This hike should be easy due to the trails in Washoe Meadows being relatively flat and we will be walking for 2 to 3 miles. We ask those joining us to come prepared due to there being no facilities in the area so be prepared with snacks, water, and sunscreen. Other items we recommend bringing include binoculars, spotting scope, and/or birding identification books.
