A Very Soulful Christmas Ft. Tasche (Reno)
The Reno Jazz Orchestra, with guest artist Tasche, will present “A Very Soulful Christmas” concert at the University of Nevada, Reno’s Nightingale Concert Hall. From the most inventive yuletide grooves to straight-up soul and funk, the Orchestra will present a family-friendly evening of big band holiday-themed music with a funky twist.
“Ever since the hundreds of Christmas albums released when the LP era began in 1948, the music industry has embraced the holidays, and so have we,” said Greg Johnson, music director for the Reno Jazz Orchestra. “Joining the 17-piece orchestra is Tasche, a very talented and world-recognized R&B, soul and rock artist ready to energize the stage with an engaging and entertaining holiday concert.”
“Tasche is a powerhouse vocalist and keyboardist who thrills audiences worldwide with his original music and stunning covers,” said Johnson. “We are excited and honored to bring this level of talent to the stage to Northern Nevada this holiday season. He has brilliantly performed covers in his career of Prince, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Bruno Mars, Maroon 5 and many more.”
His career boasts global performances from Japan and France to Canada and Brazil. He's graced stages alongside renowned artists like CeeLo Green, Sheila E and Tony! Toni! Toné!.
His own musical journey includes two acclaimed CDs, "A Love Worth Fighting For" and "From the Soul," showcasing his songwriting talent. Whether captivating audiences with his originals or dazzling them with covers, Tasche's artistry is undeniable.
The Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) has been based in Northern Nevada for over 25 years and was formed by musicians who performed and traveled the world with acts such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Elvis Presley, Natalie Cole, Luciano Pavarotti and other legendary performers. The tradition of jazz excellence set by the founders continues today with jazz professors, educators and graduates from the University of Nevada, Reno, jazz studies program setting new performance standards.
