At 4 years old, she’s bringing plenty of fluff and Mountain Mardi Gras spirit to the celebration.
Goldie belongs to Tom and Heidi Doyle. Tom is the President of the Tahoe City Rotary Club, and Heidi is the former Executive Director of Sierra State Parks Foundation, now happily retired and enjoying life in Tahoe. If you see Goldie out celebrating during the SNOWFEST Parade & Palooza, be sure to say hello! 💙

“Hooded” is something of an understatement for this extravagantly crested little duck! Adult males are a sight to behold, with sharp black-and-white patterns set off by chestnut flanks. Females get their own distinctive elegance from their cinnamon crest. Hooded Mergansers are fairly common on small ponds and rivers, where they dive for fish, crayfish, and other food, seizing it in their thin, serrated bills. They nest in tree cavities; the ducklings depart with a bold leap to the forest floor when only one day old!

Have you checked out the Truckee Community Aquatic Center yet? This Thursday, March 5th from 5–7 PM, the community is invited for a FREE night of swimming and fun for all ages.
Enjoy the lazy river, waterslide, and interactive water features in the Rec Pool, or test your skills in the Lap Pool with diving board, rope climb, and lap swimming.
Plus there will be snacks, community resources, blood pressure and sugar screenings, and plenty of ways to learn about programs like swim lessons, private instruction, and aquatic activities.
