PINE NUTS: Love Your Mother
Reason suggests that if nature exhibits symmetry and design, nature must have a designer, so mankind has been kept pretty busy over the ages crediting that design to various deities and creators. Were I superintending, I would give full credit to the rightful designer, the original creator, our dear mother herself, in all her glory, Mother Nature.

Well, help is on the way. In a paper published recently in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers are discovering that nature produces symmetry because it’s easier to follow the building blocks of symmetrical genetic code than it is to produce and follow asymmetry.

Free Admission in non-preferred seating! As so many of our Tahoe-Reno-Southlake-Truckee-Carson Valley communities have been adversely affected by two years of Covid hardship, we are offering admission to the general seating area free of admission charge.

You will need to log into the buy tickets link and "sign up" for these seats. We are asking for whatever donation you are capable of making to help us keep the music flowing.

Preferred seating is still reserved at $40/seat and $15 for under 23 years of age.

On April 21, 2022 Dr. Chan Hellman will be at the Lake Tahoe School to present a FREE community event on 'The Science of Hope'.
Event Registration is required - see link below

Dr. Hellman will speak about the application of hope theory to those impacted by trauma and adversity. Additionally, Hellman will discuss the impact of prevention and intervention services on increasing and sustaining client hope.

While he is here, the Incline Education Fund will be sponsoring Dr. Hellman on Wednesday, April 20 to speak to Incline High School students, Incline Middle and High School staff as well as spending time with Incline Schools counselors and Incline Elementary School teachers.

Chan M. Hellman, PhD. is a professor of social work at the University of Oklahoma and Director of The Hope Research Center. He has written more than 150 scientific publications and has presented at numerous national and international conferences worldwide. Dr. Hellman also presented his work on hope with TEDx in May of 2021.

Dr. Hellman’s research is focused on hope as a psychological strength helping children and adults overcome trauma and adversity. This research informed the development of the “Hope Centered and Trauma Informed®” training program. He is the co-author of the award-winning book “Hope Rising: How the Science of Hope Can Change Your Life” with his co-author Casey Gwinn, published by Morgan James.

Help us kick off Earth Month by participating in Tahoe's Trash Pickup Challenge- Earth Month Edition, April 1 - 30! Together we can keep our beautiful Tahoe environment clean and litter free. All month long we encourage you to go out and pick up any litter that you see! Whether you're just walking to school or the store, or heading out for an hour long cleanup at your favorite Tahoe spot, make sure to leave it better than you found it by picking up any litter that you see along the way.

Report what you find and double your impact by using the "That's Not Natural" report on the Citizen Science Tahoe App (citizensciencetahoe.org). Or fill in a data card (provided in cleanup kits) and either drop it off where you borrowed cleanup supplies or email it to events@keeptahoeblue.org.

Early April 2022 - still quite a bit of snow in the Marlette Lake basin on the way to the Flume Trail. Sunny aspects are pretty clear but still lots of snow in the shady parts of the trail. We are expecting that by the second week of May it should be pretty clear and we will begin mountain bike rentals and shuttles if the current no storm weather continues.

We are looking for employees for summer! Bike Mechanics, bike fitters, front counter, shuttle drivers. Send a message if interested. Full or part time and we usually operate until November for those ski area people looking for more than a three month job for the summer. (Second shot is last early summer).

PINE NUTS: We’re Going to the Dogs and that’s a Good Thing
The world is going to the dogs and that’s a good thing. There are more dogs in San Francisco today than people. Emperor Norton himself had two dogs, Lazarus & Bummer. When Laz & Bum expired they were regally stuffed by a taxidermist to become a popular display above the swinging doors of a swinging downtown saloon. I don’t know if our little village of Incline has more dogs than people, but if not, we’re gaining on it. I know a good many dogs by their first names, because I carry milk bone treats with me everywhere I go, and from Daisy to Georgia, they all come running.
Dogs are in possession of attributes that we humans should copy and recapture as we emerge from this infernal pandemic, for they are easy-going, spontaneous, curious, playful and loveable. Their joy of life is contagious.
