Did you know that when you install a wire to run electricity you can only bend it to a limited degree? Too many bends, and the power won't travel. Granthi can be described as areas of "crooked prana." This explanation may bring to mind an image of a bent wire; the energy can't travel because of it. If the pathways (nadi) through which prana travels are not clear, straight and easy, prana becomes caught or knotted. How do we clear the way? Pranayama and pratyahara address the pranic or energetic layer of ourselves. Redirect your awareness from the external and you will increase awareness of your Self.
