I am pleased to report that the Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a lease extension for the Incline Village courts to remain in their location, 865 Tahoe Blvd. Suite 301(September 21, 2021).

If there are any proposed changes to the Incline Village Crystal Bay Township Justice Court in the future I will ensure that the Incline Village / Crystal Bay residents will have opportunities to comment and provide input.

Tahoe Forest Health System Receives the Best Places to Work Award for a Third Year in a Row - Tahoe Forest Health System is proud to be awarded 3rd place for the 2021 Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work in the Extra-Large Business category. The recognition took place at the 14th Annual Greater Reno-Tahoe Best Places to Work celebration, presented by the Northern Nevada Human Resources Association, held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno.

“We are honored to be receiving this recognition among organizations across all industries for a third year in a row” says Harry Weis, President and CEO of Tahoe Forest Health System. “The Best Places to Work Award reflects our commitment to the community we serve as we continually strive to provide high quality healthcare delivery every day,” Weis added.

Best Places to Work winners are determined entirely on the basis of employees’ responses to the Employee Engagement Survey that measures key areas that make up an organization’s culture, including trust in leadership and employee engagement.

Dress your groovy best, throw on your love beads, and join Tahoe Family Solutions, the Incline Village-based non-profit Family Resource Center, for a “Groovy Night for Mental Health” at their annual Shabby Chic fundraiser. This fun and festive event is being postponed to September 28th at 5:oo pm, a change from the original date of August 31st. Shabby Chic promises to be a colorful medley of 60s and 70s art, music, and regalia. Set in the beautiful outdoor setting of Aspen Grove, the evening will include live music by the local favorite, Jacked Up, dinner, drinks, themed tables, specialty cocktails, and a fabulous art and wine silent auction. All proceeds from Shabby Chic benefit Tahoe Family Solutions free and sliding fee mental health services. “Shabby Chic truly is the signature event of Tahoe Family Solutions,” says Amy Guinan, development director of TFS. “Not only is it a really fun and whimsical opportunity for the community to come together for a great night together, it also provides critical funding for TFS Mental Health Services. The wonderful support we receive at Shabby Chic allows TFS to continually keep mental health services accessible and available to all community members and allows us to keep fees low or completely free of charge. It is our goal to remove all obstacles for community members to access the mental health support they need.” Since its inception in 2013, Shabby Chic has raised nearly $700,000 for our community mental health services that include children’s therapy, play therapy, adult and family counseling, psychiatry services, and medication management. Organizers of Shabby Chic 2021 are hoping to raise $150,000 for TFS mental health services to engage an additional Marriage and Family Therapist, initiate group therapy sessions, and expand community collaborations – particularly in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the mental and emotional toll it has taken on the community. Tickets are selling fast for Shabby Chic and can be purchased at www.tahoefamily.org. Guests are encouraged to wear their 60s and 70s best and join TFS for a great night of live music, food, drinks, dancing – and mental health support.

It was refreshing to see a couple teens vie for this year’s US Open Championship, and see a qualifier win it for the first time ever. Britain’s 18-year-old Emma Raducanu defeated Canada’s 19-year-old Leylah Fernandez, 6-4, 6-3. Happy? As Huckleberry might say, “I reckon not!” I can just picture Emma shoving her teddy bear over on her bedroom bookshelf back home, and standing that beautiful new silver championship trophy up alongside that teddy bear.
