I always wanted my own little restaurant where my friends and family would feel at home and strangers would soon become friends… happy to say, my dream became a reality! I couldn’t have achieved this without the help of my staff and this amazing community who continue to to support us. I am humbled and truly blessed! Here’s to another 16 years!

Public workshops scheduled for Tahoe destination stewardship plan.
Lake Tahoe residents, community members and stakeholders interested in the responsible management of tourism and recreation are invited to take part in workshops this month to create a destination stewardship plan that will balance the needs of Lake Tahoe’s environment, businesses, visitors, and local communities. This new shared strategy will inspire all to take care of Tahoe.

A collaboration of 13 public and private sector organizations invite residents and stakeholders in the greater Tahoe region, including Truckee, to weigh in during a series of visioning workshops scheduled for May 2022.

Residents and stakeholders are invited to participate in the visioning workshops on May 16, 17 (at the Parasol Community Foundation from 5:30-7:30 p.m.,) and 18 in locations around the Tahoe Basin, plus an option for Zoom.

Cheif Sommers is the seventh Chief of NLTFPD since its inception in 1959 with a unanimous vote on Sept. 21, 2016. Born in Reno and raised in Incline Village, he started his career in 1991 as a seasonal volunteer firefighter. Throughout his tenure, Sommers moved up through all of the respective ranks from dispatcher, firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief and Assistant Fire Chief.

Washoe County Human Services Agency Senior Services, Regional Transportation Commission, along with the cities of Reno and Sparks, are collaborating to offer dozens of events throughout Older Americans Month. View the Washoe County OAM website for more information and a complete list of events.

The general public can pick up a copy of the Older Americans Month program at Sparks City Hall, Reno City Hall, Incline Village Parks and Recreation, Sun Valley General Improvement District, and all Washoe County Libraries and senior centers.

In recognition of May being Mental Health Month, the Tahoe Truckee Suicide Prevention Coalition is hosting a mental health book club on May 24th! The book we will be reading leading up the book club event is Notes on a Nervous Planet by Matt Haig, who discusses how our modern world both helps and hurts our collective mental health and wellbeing. The book is both funny and thought-provoking and is an easy read. The details for registration are included in the attached flyer, as well as included in the link below.
