April Gratrix:
Working mainly in acrylics on canvas, April uses nature as her inspiration to create paintings that are influenced by her background in graphic design. Strong lines, circles, and bold colors are a repeating theme, combining representational imagery with abstracts. She likes to focus on a piece of nature, magnify it, and create details with simple shapes. Her art is fluid, creating a sense of movement to instill energy into every part of the canvas. She is inspired by the art itself, often starting with a single brushstroke and letting the painting evolve from there. The colors and shapes connect her vision to the canvas.
Jacque Price
Jacque is mixing it up and taking some risks with her new modern landscape collection. As always, she continues to impress us with her bold, sophisticated palette.
"My work is an evolving experiment, drawing on expressionism and surrealism, the roots of which make painting so expansive for me. I work with spontaneous and subconscious inspiration, creating images that speak to the human experience through the lens of nature.
I work in oil using brush and knife with non-toxic colors and mediums. By beginning every painting with toning the canvas in thin washes, I create an initial composition from which I determine the context of the work. I enjoy using a limited palette and creating textured surfaces, while paying attention to elements of design. My most recent series plays with large areas of color layered beneath the gestural lines that determine a posture or horizon."
