Wearable Art

Cindy Ayala’s designs are handcrafted from 75% recycled materials and redesigned into beautiful pieces in a contemporary retro design. Some of Cindy’s fabrics are created by using various types of fabric manipulation, stippling and felting techniques. Foundations of felted wool or cashmere and recycled materials are deconstructed and redesigned in a style best called contemporary/retro fusion then embellished using handmade applique, collages of novelty thread, fibers and semiprecious stone. Cindy creates some her fabrics from patch working different pieces of recycled clothing together and then adding to her designs. She loves combining the textures and colors into glorious pieces of wearable art that are eco-friendly, professionally constructed and have a mixture of whimsy and class.

Glass

All of Josh Fradis’ artwork represents the dedicated effort he’s put into his skills as a glass artist over the past 15 years. “I learn something new about the glass every time that I work with it,” he says. “I absorb the world around me and take the bits and pieces that I want…and put it into my artwork.” Josh fell in love at first sight when he stepped into the glassblowing studio in college. The fluidity, motion, movement, and outcome of transforming something clear and liquid into something beautiful and solid all attributed to his immediate fondness of the art form. His creations are decorative pieces that feature beautiful, bright colors and fun shapes.

Knives

Jay Gordin’s knives are designed, and hand crafted in his shop in Grass Valley, California.  The blades are forged from high carbon steel, files and other once useful tools. He is currently working with a rust proof alloy called Dendritic Cobalt. These knives are popular for use around water and convenient in the kitchen. The handles are handmade from a variety of materials such as horn, micarta and exotic woods. The sheaths for the knives are also handcrafted in fine leather. “I fell in love with the old knives and knife makers of San Francisco and the Old West,” says Jay. “You will find some of these designers incorporated in my own designs.”

Photography

Dirk Yuricich has traveled, studied, taught in and photographed over 30 countries. His photography covers a broad spectrum of styles including photojournalistic studies of other cultures and historical subjects. He also tries to create artistic interpretations of landscapes and flora. His particular interest is in finding the graphic design imagery that often lies hidden in nature and manmade objects. “Colors, textures, shapes and resonance of the passage of time all move me to shoot,” says Dirk. “I enjoy the challenge of interpreting and composing an image in a unique way.”
