Gatekeeper's Museum, Historical Talk: Tahoe Resort Owners of the 1920s and 1930s
Event Description:

During the decades of the 1920s and 30s, Tahoe’s west shore was dotted with mom-and-pop ventures catering to the growing middle class, whose new mobility (thanks to the rise of the private auto and improving roads) led to the establishment of numerous enterprises aimed at capturing their business. Cell phones, the Internet and Next Day Air were the stuff of a distant future, and the resulting isolation of resort guests required that these resorts be self-contained, providing a wide range of services, amenities and merchandise onsite.
