Celebrate Pride with South Lake Tahoe's Second Annual Pride Art Show: "Love is a National Treasure"
South Lake Tahoe, CA - Scott Forrest Fine Art Studio, located at 2572 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe, CA, will host the second annual exhibit of “Love is a National Treasure” on Thursday, June 27, 2019, presented by MakeTahoe.com. “Love is a National Treasure” is a South Lake Tahoe event where Pride meets Art. This annual exhibit is designed to bring people together, showcase the diversity of our community, and celebrate Pride Month.
This event is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. Enjoy appetizers, listen to the music of Annie Davidson, mix and mingle, and support your community. This event is a fundraiser for the Lake Tahoe Pride Equality Scholarship offered at Lake Tahoe Community College. Donations will be accepted at the event, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of art will go to the scholarship. The exhibit will also be available for viewing Friday to Sunday, June 28th to 30th, from Noon to 6 pm.
Scott Forrest Fine Art Studio opened earlier this year. Scott Forrest’s work is part of the permanent collection at The Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles, and has graced the pages of Rolling Stone, Newsweek, and Spin Magazine. Forrest’s painting “Atomic Sunflower” was chosen as an iconic image by CBS Television’s show “Sunday Morning”.
MakeTahoe.com is a website dedicated to Tahoe art and provides opportunities to showcase local artists through curating and promoting art exhibits. In 2018, MakeTahoe.com presented “Love is a National Treasure” at Benko Art Gallery, and the exhibit was nominated for an Alliance Award by the Tahoe Arts Alliance.
On June 4, 2019, the City of South Lake Tahoe announced a Proclamation Recognizing June 2019 as LGBTQ Pride Month. At the event, a commemorative painting of Lake Tahoe with iconic Pride colors by artist Eva Salyer was presented to the City on behalf of Make Tahoe, Scott Forrest Fine Art Studio and Lake Tahoe Pride. Eva Salyer, John Benko, Tryston Benko, Ellen Nunes, Featherpistol, Claudia Garza, Sarah Metzler, Yvonne McGrath, Rasjad Hopkins, Cathryn Powell, and Dave Justice are among the many artists scheduled to show in this year’s event. Dave Justice’s “American Flag” currently hangs in the City Art Gallery at South Lake Tahoe City Hall.
