Intensive Spanish Summer Institute
Each August, the beautiful Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) campus, located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, transforms itself into a Mexican pueblo offering students an immersion into the Spanish language and culture. The Intensive Spanish Summer Institute (ISSI), recognized as an Outstanding Community College Program, has also received numerous awards and commendations. Each year, exciting new courses and educational opportunities are added.
During the weeklong Institute, students can earn up to 4 quarter units of credit in courses designed to promote the development of fluency in Spanish. The full-day core program, consisting of 2.5 quarter units for Low Beginning through High Superior levels, emphasizes oral and written skills and cultural understanding. Students may obtain additional units Tuesday and Thursday evenings, during lunchtime and each afternoon.
