Event Description:

Dr. Peter Mires, historical geographer, author and Carson City resident, presents an illustrated lecture on the rustic architecture of the Lake Tahoe region. Although Dr. Mires will focus largely on its Gilded Age-to-Great Depression heyday, he will invite discussion of what many call  “mountain architecture” or simply “Tahoe style.” In addition, he will describe his recent residency at the Elmira College Center for Mark Twain Studies, and offer comments on Twain’s take on architecture. In partnership with the Lake Tahoe Historical Society. This event is free and open to all. Sponsored by Friends of the Library and the Lake Tahoe Historical Society.
