Event Description:

Join the Friends of the Library, in partnership with the Lake Tahoe Historical Society for "A Brief History of Underwear" presented by Jan Loverin, Curator of Clothing and Textiles at Nevada State Museum's Marjorie Russell Clothing and Textile Research Center. This is an incredibly interesting and engaging lecture about our most intimate attire...underwear! It looks at the history of various forms and styles of undergarments worn by our ancestors. Starting with the Egyptians and going through the millennia, this power point program reveals fascinating facts about corsetry, drawers (panties and shorts), petticoats, bustles, farthingales, and other undergarments men and women have worn throughout western civilization. We all wear undies- come find out the WEAR and WHY of underwear. Free and open to all.
