Thunderbird Lodge Classic Tours
Explore the historic Thunderbird Lodge: Learn about Lake Tahoe's magical Castle-in-the-Sky and the world-famous Thunderbird Yacht. The Thunderbird Lodge is one of the best examples of a great residential estate on Lake Tahoe. Built in 1939, it was designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings.
Exclusive guided tours let you explore the magic and mystery of the historic Thunderbird Lodge and Whittell Estate grounds. Learn about Captain Whittell’s contributions to conserving Lake Tahoe’s Nevada shoreline and see his world-famous mansion including secret tunnels, card house, and the legendary Thunderbird yacht (when available).
Thunderbird Lodge Classic Tours are available by reservation only and run Tuesdays and Fridays at 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Tours will also be available on Wednesdays from July 8th to September 2nd. Tour guests will take a shuttle from the Travel North Tahoe Nevada Welcome Center to the Thunderbird Lodge.
