TART (Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transit) recently announced that they will be expanding their free Park and Ride ski resort services to include various North Lake Tahoe SnowFest events, operating February 27 through April 9. These services will be in place to help ease traffic congestion, reduce parking issues and decrease carbon emissions during these events, making it easier on attendees and the community.

Sustainability has been a hot topic in the Tahoe-Truckee region, especially during peak seasons and events. The TART Park and Ride program, funded by TOT-TBID Dollars at Work and managed by Truckee North Tahoe Transportation Management Association, Palisades Tahoe and the Tahoe City Downtown Association, wants to change the way we approach public transportation to encourage sustainable practices and keep our roads safe during high-ticket events, including SnowFest and various Fourth of July festivities.

North Lake Tahoe SnowFest Shuttle Services

North Lake Tahoe SnowFest will attract a large number of participants, volunteers and attendees from around the region and beyond. On Friday, February 27, the highly anticipated event will kick off with a dazzling family-friendly fireworks display and live music performance at the Tahoe City Winter Sports Park.

The TART Park and Ride program will offer its free shuttles to and from the event to help alleviate traffic and parking concerns. Some of the pickup spots will include The Village at Palisades Tahoe, River Ranch and the Tahoe City Transit Center.

SnowFest will run until March 8 with more than 50 events throughout the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee region. See the full schedule of SnowFest events and try to line up with the TART Park and Ride schedule to ensure seamless travel. I always advise leaving as early as you can, especially on weekends or holidays.

Ski Shuttles with TART Park and Ride

For skiers, the TART Park and Ride program serves Palisades Tahoe and Northstar California Resort on weekends and Sugar Bowl Resort daily. No reservations are required, just plan to be at the pick-up stop at your desired time and get a stress-free ride. This will also ease the stress of having to make weekend reservations, which tend to fill up quickly. Palisades and Northstar have the reservation systems in place until the afternoon, when it becomes first-come, first-serve.

Beyond the TART Park and Ride Program

Beyond the Park and Ride program, TART operates year-round in the North Lake Tahoe and Tahoe Donner regions, offering free transportation around Truckee, Olympic Valley, Northstar, Kings Beach, Incline Village and Crystal Bay, Carnelian Bay, Tahoe City and the west shore to Tahoma.

TART will be servicing a wide variety of events throughout the year, including the Tahoe City Food & Wine Classic, various Fourth of July festivities, Tahoe City Oktoberfest and many more. Stay tuned, as additional dates and schedules will be available as the events near.
