Lake Tahoe's Farmers Markets

By Shanie Matthews | Tuesday, July 12, 2022

Do you enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables? Is supporting local farmers important to you? Does giving yourself and loved ones the healthiest options excite you? If so, then you are in luck! It's the time of year again to enjoy Lake Tahoe's plentiful selection of farmers markets. Although there are not quite as many markets this year as in the past, that doesn't mean there isn't access to the highest quality produce, eggs and meats.

Keep reading to learn about this summer's selection of farmers markets around the basin.

El Dorado County Certified Farmer's Market

Meet local farmers and enjoy the taste of just-picked produce at the El Dorado County Certified Farmer's Market. This market is focused on the dedication that goes into growing and harvesting the food that makes you feel better in life. Learn about farming practices, what's up and coming for harvest and special preparation suggestions as well as fun recipes, while also creating friendships with the farmers who call this area home. The market runs on Tuesdays through October 11 in South Lake Tahoe at the American Legion parking lot, located at 2732 South Lake Tahoe Boulevard. All are encouraged to shop from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ski Run Farmer's Market

Running on Fridays from 3 to 8 p.m., Ski Run Farmer's Market welcomes 35 different vendors offering a little something for everyone. From farm-fresh produce to locally made arts and crafts, from locally made food to live music, Ski Run Farmer's Market is a place for soaking up the local love during the evening hours. This market runs through September and can be found on Ski Run Boulevard between Larch and Birch streets.

Tahoe City Farmer's Market Commons Beach

The market with the best view, in my opinion, is Tahoe City Farmer's Market at Commons Beach. This is an experience that can last all day. Enjoy perusing booths offering organic produce, meat, bread and cheese with a superb selection of local fruits and vegetables (as long as you arrive early). After enjoying your shopping experience, including booths offering jewelry, clothing and art, take a load off, grab a coffee and some freshly baked goods. This is a superb place for a picnic and enjoying the sandy beach and beautiful shoreline while taking in the fantastic people watching. Tahoe City Farmer's Market runs on Thursdays through October 20 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Incline Village Farmer's Market

Incline Village Farmer's Market is a small market filled to the brim with goodness. Running on Thursdays from 3 to 6 p.m., this market features happy farmers who love to share their selections including fish, pork, eggs and vegetables. You can find local businesses like Rodriguez Brothers Farms, Fresh Way Fish, First Fruits Sustainable Farms, Schletewitz Family Farms, Alaska Source Seafood, Nature's Candy Co., MandaLynn Jewelry Designs, High Sierra Farm & Kitchen, Decor Delivered and The Spirit of Crochet showing off their wares. The Incline Farmer's Market is located at the Incline Village Library parking lot, 845 Alder Avenue in Incline Village.

Meyers Mountain Market

A Certified Farmers Market offering fresh produce, arts & crafts, food trucks and live music, Meyers Mountain Market is a favorite community affair. Happening on Wednesdays from 3 to 7:30 p.m. at Tahoe Paradise Park, the main goal of the market is to promote a sense of community and a healthy way of life. Dedicated to bringing farmers directly to you, they promise to be open rain or shine, supplying shoppers with locally grown fruits, vegetables, meats, eggs and honey as well as freshly baked goods, flowers and more. There are also food trucks on site offering delicious meals to enjoy under the pine trees or on the sandy shore of Lake Baron. All patrons are asked to bike, walk or caravan to the market to help participate in keeping Tahoe air clean and fresh.

Truckee Certified Farmer's Market

The Truckee Certified Farmer's Market is the place to see and be seen. A community affair that is all about enjoying the special vibe of Truckee Regional Park, this market is known to be a favorite for many locals. Offering local fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, baked goods and artisan crafts, the market is open every Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. You can find different booths, including setups by Tawani Farm, Little Fish, Golden Acorn, Harvey Farms, Little Roots, Mogrog Food Truck and Tentacle Coffee.

The Farmacy

Not a farmer's market per se, The Farmacy (formerly The Farm Shop) is a local farms and makers shopping experience created by Tahoe Food Hub. Considered a medicine cabinet for local, fresh and healthy food as well as good-hearted reminder that food is medicine, The Farmacy is a store-like experience that supplies fresh produce and grocery staples to you six days a week. Beyond fresh, local and seasonal produce, you can also find pasture-raised eggs and grass-finished meats. Patrons will also discover a variety of specialty products from olive oils and sauces to dairy and bread. Located next to the Truckee Airport in the Tahoe Food Hub warehouse at 12116 Chandelle Way, Unit D1, store hours are Monday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and then Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Interested shoppers are also encouraged to use the Tahoe Food Hub's online farmers market, Harvest-To-Order, allowing consumers to shop online Monday through Thursday for customized orders that can be picked up at The Farmacy.
