When it comes to Tahoe, one of the things that I love most are the vibrant people who call this place home.
Wendy Theroux of the scrumptious Tahoe Tavern & Grill is exactly one of those people who helps this community shine. Her bubbly personality makes any setting more enjoyable, and her creation of a dream come true in the form of Tahoe Tavern & Grill is nothing but an awesome example of following your passions. As a fantastic addition to our area, the restaurant not only serves delicious food, but also offers an atmosphere that welcomes you with loving arms, creating a setting that feels like a home away from home.
I was so excited when I learned that Wendy was up for participating in the Get to Know the Locals series. Keep reading to learn why this impressive female entrepreneur calls Tahoe home, her favorite places to go and what her dreams for her future are.
How long have you lived on Lake Tahoe? I've lived here two and a half years.
Where did you grow up and live before you came here? I'm from Southern California.
What inspired you to create a local business? I've been in the restaurant industry for 35 years and always wanted to create a place where locals can go see friendly faces while enjoying great cocktails and delicious food.

What’s your favorite Lake Tahoe town or village? Stateline is my favorite with endless activities and food choices.
What is your favorite thing about living in Lake Tahoe? The summer is so beautiful with so many wonderful outdoor activities.
What’s your favorite season in Tahoe? Summer, of course. I am not a fan of the cold.
What’s your favorite Lake Tahoe beach access? I love Round Hill for their easy access, bar and restaurant that delivers your food to you on the beach.
Do you have a favorite trail or area to access the mountains? I believe Emerald Point Trail is one of my top choices. It is such a beautiful hike.
What do you do for fun? I love hanging with my family, going to concerts and vacationing on a tropical beach.
Describe your perfect day off. Relaxing on a beach with a margarita in hand.
Do you see more sunsets or sunrises? Sunsets for sure.
What’s one thing you wish more Lake Tahoe visitors knew? There are things to do year round here.
Where do you go on vacation? I love cruises and tropical beaches.
For a celebratory dinner, would you rather order take-out, go out to eat or cook something at home? I would rather go out to eat. It's more fun when someone else is cooking, making drinks and cleaning up.

What’s your favorite meal of the day, and where in Lake Tahoe would you get it? I am definitely a lunch girl and would go to my favorite restaurant, Tahoe Tavern & Grill, for the best meal in Tahoe.
What’s your favorite thing about your job? I love meeting new people and seeing familiar faces everyday. I am very social.
Do you have any side hustles? No.
What’s your favorite way to unwind after a busy day? Talking to my kids and husband.
What’s one item on your bucket list? I am half Spanish and would love to visit Spain to see where my Dad was born.
