The end of March is quickly approaching. A full moon is giving a lot of opportunity to get together with friends and family. There truly is nothing more special, in my opinion, than watching the swollen moon rising over Lake Tahoe. It truly is a magnificent event.
Not to mention … it’s Easter Weekend!
There are a few different ways this week to take in the full moon and enjoy the fun of Easter. Check it out!
Snowshoe Under the Full Moon
A part of a series of snowshoe adventures offered by Tahoe Adventure Company, this full moon on Wednesday, March 23, is celebrated by a fun snowshoe tour through magnificent forests. Tahoe Adventure Company takes people on a beautiful trek that involves taking in the colorful sunset and then the rising of the moon over the mountains framing the lake. The tours take you through stunning forests to a nice place where drinks and snacks are enjoyed while stargazing. The tour is outfitted with a local astronomer to explain the sky as well as interesting stories about the local area. The tour begins at 6:30 p.m. and ends around 9:30 p.m. The price is $65 per person with four people minimum.
Full Moon Party
For those who like to dance under the full moon, West Shore Cafe & Inn is providing exactly what is needed to celebrate the full moon. Their Full Moon Party is complete with special drinks, food and live music by Benn Fuller. The event is on Friday March 25 and begins at 5 p.m. and continues on until 9 p.m. Bonus: The views from West Shore Cafe are stupendous for watching the rising moon.
Yonder Mountain String Band
There’s another great opportunity to get some booty shaking in on Friday March 25 at the Crystal Bay Club. The Yonder Mountain String Band, a super entertaining bluegrass band, is taking stage ready to get people on the dance floor. A unique and original band that travels the country touring, their music is toe-tapping and engaging. The show is $35 at the door or $30 for tickets bought prior. The booth seats are selling for $50. The event begins at 8 p.m. and includes an after party, so festivities will go as late as desired. This is a 21 and older party.
Spring Eggstravanganza
One of the most fun aspects to Easter is the finding of eggs! This enjoyment is taken to the max at Commons Beach in Tahoe City. The entire park is a egg hunt extravaganza perfect for kids and families to enjoy the festivities of Easter fully. Among the sea of hidden eggs lies the Golden Egg in which there is a hidden prize for the lucky finder. To accentuate the fun even more there are family-friendly games and activities as well as the Easter Bunny ready to pose for photos with the kiddos. The event starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday March 26, and entrance is free.
Last Tracks Beer Tasting
Diamond Peak Ski Resort is offering a fantastic event on Saturday March 26 for those who appreciate the beauty of the mountains while enjoying fine tasting wine and beer. The Last Tracks Beer Tasting event is a Saturday event happening February through April. This week’s event on March 26 allows attendees to enjoy exquisite wine and craft beers at the Snowflake Lodge located at the top of Diamond Peak Resort. This location provides extensive views of Lake Tahoe. After the wine and beer tasting guests can either ski down or ride the gondola back to the base of the mountain. The tasting begins at 4 p.m. The cost is $34, which includes a ski lift ticket that is good from 2 to 4 p.m. For those with a Diamond Peak ski pass, there is a $5 discount.
This is just a small sampling of all the great activities to do this week in Lake Tahoe. Check out both our day and evening event sections to learn more.
