Finding Love in Lake Tahoe

Love is in the air.

Lake Tahoe is filled with those wonderful feelings of joy and romance. From stunning views to that amazing sensation of sharing an adrenaline-filled moment, the Tahoe basin is literally saturated with opportunities to invoke more love, enchantment and connection.

In appreciation of Cupid's arrow and Valentine's Day, check out these lovely ways that you can let your loved one know how much you truly appreciate him or her.

Enjoying the fine side of dining

One of the greatest aspects to Lake Tahoe is the immense amount of gourmet restaurants. There are so many great dining experiences to choose from that oftentimes the choice is the difficult part. A few options are so special that they deserve your attention. One such place is The Timbers Restaurant at Stateline, which is pairing impressive dishes like Braised Beef Short Ribs in Red Wine over Lobster Risotto paired with a supporting wine. Another impressive offering is at the Zephyr Cove Resort, where you can enjoy a special dinner cruise with amazing views of Lake Tahoe aboard the M.S. Dixie II. This unique and special way to celebrate is complete with live music, a special plated menu for dinner and a complimentary glass of champagne. A third option is served at The Grille at The Chateau in Incline Village, where you will enjoy delectable chef creations that are expertly paired with matching wines.

Make it an adventure

Another way to share the love with your sweetheart is to enjoy an outdoor trip that invokes the feeling of connection and oneness. Take an evening kayak cruise, supported by a guide that offers interesting information and warm drinks. If the water isn’t enticing, another way to take in the beauty of the environment while appreciating your sweetheart is partaking in a guided snowshoe excursion that comes complete with local tales and drinks.

Take in the views

If enjoying a mellow day with your loved one sounds like your cup of tea, take in the views that abound all around Lake Tahoe. There are a few ways to do this. One of my favorite is to take a leisurely drive around the lake. Taking your time, stopping at the various view spots and enjoying the moment can be just what a couple needs. If you would like to get a little more lofty with your views (but don’t want to ski), try a cable car ride at either Heavenly, Northstar or Squaw Valley. The views will not disappoint.

Get relaxed

Maybe the best way a couple can enjoy the love of Valentine’s Day is by relishing in the fantastic feeling of a spa treatment. Whether you are staying on the north or south side of the lake, there are many spas that offer caring moments like couples massage or other body treatments that will inspire a happier, healthier self. Tahoe City’s Lighthouse Massage (with two locations at Safeway and Granlibakken) offers a loving special for couples that ranges from an hour to two hours for massage. Elements Day Spa also offers three styles of couple’s massages, including an exfoliating body scrub, body wraps and a massage that includes champagne and chocolate. Another place to check out is the BioSpirit Day Spa. They provide hour massages that release stress and provide release for deep tissue challenges.
