The spirit of Valentine’s Day lights up the Tahoe-Truckee region for couples, friends and families alike. Whether you are looking for a cozy date night, a romantic sunset cruise or an adventurous guided snowshoe hike, the vendors and businesses in the region are here to make your special day one to remember!

To help you with some inspiration and plan for your big day, I’ve created a list of events and activities below. I hope this Valentine’s Day is your best one yet!

Date Night in Heavenly Village

Gather your loved ones and head to Heavenly Village for a night filled with fun activities in spirit of Valentine’s Day. Celebrate love with your significant other, friends or family members as you wander under the lights, take selfies at the photo booth, dance to live music and watch a magic show at the Loft Theater. Participating shops and restaurants will be offering special menus and discounts to attendees. Make reservations ahead of time to ensure you enjoy a special meal that evening, as there is expected to be full attendance.

Valentine’s Day Dinner at Granlibakken

Head to Granlibakken’s Cedar House Pub at the Main Lodge to indulge in a special Valentine’s Day menu for a romantic evening with your loved one. Available only for the evenings of February 14 and 15, Granlibakken will offer three different dinner options: braised short ribs, pan-seared halibut, and 20-layer vegetarian lasagna. After dinner, you can finish your meal with their delicious dessert special – a strawberry white chocolate creme brulee with red velvet cookies. 

If you’re staying at Granlibakken for a romantic weekend vacation, they are offering a 15% discount on the Valentine’s dinner menu to guests.

Picnic in a Bubble Yurt

Last Tracks Wine Tasting at Diamond Peak

There’s no better event for a romantic ski date than tasting wine at Diamond Peak’s Snowflake Lodge, located mid-mountain to the right of Lakeview Chairlift. With panoramic views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountain peaks, Snowflake Lodge has one of the best views in the Tahoe-Truckee region. This event will begin after operating hours, so take the last chairlifts up after an exciting day on the slopes. You can try various wines and appetizers as you watch the sunset directly over the mountains. Finish off the incredible experience by skiing down the mountain after hours by the soft light from the golden hour glow.

Sweetheart Snowshoe Trek with Tahoe Rim Trail Association

What better way to celebrate the spirit of Valentine’s Day than a hike and picnic with your significant other, best friends or family members? The Tahoe Rim Trail Association is providing a stunning guided snowshoe trek through the Tahoe Meadows and along the ridgeline. You won’t want to miss this or the scenic photo opportunities of the lake and mountains (including Twin Peaks and Barker Pass). At the top, you will be rewarded with incredible views and a picnic provided by your guides. Sign up early and bring your camera and appetite!

Date and Time: February 13, 2 to 4 p.m.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise on the MS Dixie II

Celebrate Valentine’s Day on a romantic cruise with live music, dinner and Champagne. You will get a chance to see the sunset light up the lake as you cruise through South Lake Tahoe and Emerald Bay. After the sun sets, dance underneath the stars with your loved one to the live band. Bring warm layers, as temperatures drop drastically when the sun goes down!

Heartbreakers Valentine’s Party at Alibi Ale Works

“Come hungry and ready to party!” Join locals and visitors for a fun evening of live music from Blu Egyptian, dancing, a delicious dinner and house-brewed beers. Alibi’s menu includes pub-style appetizers, soups, salads and pizzas with dough specially crafted by Truckee Sourdough. Their beers on tap are brewed in Incline Village using pure Tahoe water, ensuring a crisp and clean taste. They also serve ciders, cocktails, and non-alcoholic sodas and kombuchas.

Make sure to have a ride home if you drink! Carpooling is always encouraged, and Incline uses TART for public transportation.
