It’s hard to believe, but we’re just a few weeks away from Halloween! Although some days still feel like summer, fall is definitely making an appearance. The days are getting shorter, the nights are getting cooler, and the leaves are starting to change from green to hues of yellow and gold.
It’s almost time to get out your spookiest costumes and plan your Halloween-themed adventures in the Truckee-Tahoe region! I’m here to help you find the perfect family-friendly event. Below, I have highlighted five events to put on your 2024 Halloween bucket list. Happy haunting!

Trail of Treats and Terror
Wander through a haunted forest, partake in ghoulish games, enjoy delicious food and drinks, and dance to spooky sounds in the annual Incline Village and Crystal Bay community favorite Trail of Treats and Terror! Held on Thursday, October 24, this event kicks off at 3:30 p.m. and goes until 5:30 p.m. Reservations are required, and participants must provide proof of residency, as safety is the top priority.
The first 250 monsters will receive a free "Be Safe Be Seen" trick-or-treat bag, courtesy of the North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District. Make sure to wear your most creative costumes for the family photos, and have a fang-tastic time on the trail.
Date and Time: Thursday, October 24 at 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Location: Village Green and Fitness Trail, 960 Lakeshore Boulevard, Incline Village

Truckee Halloween Parade
Trick or treat! Grab your costumes and candy bags, and get ready for an evening of tricks, treats, and family-friendly fun in the heart of downtown Truckee. This free annual event transforms Truckee into a haunted town taken over by witches, ghosts and goblins of all ages. It's a great time for local families to connect and visit local businesses on their trick-or-treating route.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. in downtown Truckee and makes its way to the Community Arts Center where the trick-or-treating takes place. Each participating local shop will be decked out in spooky decor and offer treats to the little monsters.
Date and Time: Friday, October 25 at 6 p.m.

Boo Bash
Boo! Get ready for a ghoulish good time with South Lake Tahoe's Boo Bash. This fun event, loved by locals and visitors alike, offers two "not so scary" nights of family-friendly activities and entertainment, including a spooky horseless carriage ride, Ever After Villain meet and greets, live music, dancing and Halloween-themed games for children of all ages.
The popular event will take place over two nights, both from 5 to 8 p.m. It will be held at the City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Center. While tickets will be sold at the door, it is highly recommended to register and ensure your spot now.

Tahoe City Downtown Trick or Treat
Ghosts, goblins and ghouls of all ages will transform Tahoe City into a fun and safe spooky spectacle this Halloween evening. Meeting at Heritage Plaza, this family-friendly event offers a pumpkin decorating competition, spooky music and trick-or-treating opportunities from local businesses.
This free community event begins at 4 p.m., but it is advised to carpool and arrive early to ensure parking.
Date and Time: Thursday, October 31, 4 to 6 p.m.

Trick of Treat at Heavenly Village
On Halloween evening The Shops at Heavenly Village transform into a haunted village for a fun, safe and free trick-or-treating experience. There will be fun events for all ages, including the "Witches Walk," a costume contest, spooky bounce houses, live music, DJ, food and drinks and more!
As this event sees a large turnout of local monsters, it is encouraged to carpool and arrive early. Parking will be available at the nearby Bellamy Way parking garage, at the cost of $5.
