Led by Wendy, Belly Dance Fusion is a therapeutic movement modality. It blends the traditional signature of Middle Eastern and North African dance and music with modern artistry and borrows expressions of Flamenco and classical Indian dance. We will move with fluidity and fire, embodying the "Radiance in Motion" that defines the season of rebirth. Whether you are an experienced dancer or simply looking to move your body in a new way, this class is an invitation to let go, have fun, and physically "shake off the dust" in a supportive community atmosphere. The signature of “Raqs Sharqi” strengthen the core with precise torso and hip isolation, undulations, and figure 8’s. Using world music to interpret the movements, short combinations blend with elegant arms and hand gestures creating the fusion of this art form.
About the Practitioner: Wendy Tylka has been submerged in the traditions of yoga, Middle Eastern, North and West African and Flamenco dance forms for over 3 decades. The focus of her teachings are about allowing the body to move with music and sounds from around the world while learning isolation, rhythm and technique in the fusion form of dance known as belly dance.
