TRUCKEE RIVER

WATER CONDITIONS

The Truckee River is fishing well, even with the higher flows. The water temperatures are good with great hatches in the evenings. Anglers should expect fishing to improve more with the warm temperatures headed to our area this week. The Tahoe city section is flowing at 231CFS, Glenshire area is at 359 CFS, and the stateline area at 806 CFS.

FLOWS: Tahoe City 231 CFS, Glenshire 359 CFS, Farad 806 CFS

TIPS FOR THE WEEK

The ticket to success for anglers right now is nymphing with a lot of weight added. Fish are still holding in the deeper parts of the river. Anglers should wade shallow and fish the seams of the walking speed water. In some sections, fish have also moved into the faster water.

SUGGESTED FLIES

Copper John size 14, fox pupa size 16, birds nest size 14, San Juan worms size 12, green drake nymphs size 14, and size 14 carpenter ants

TIPS FOR THE WEEK

A couple of tactics anglers can try this week on the Little Truckee for good success are tight line nymphing or dry fly fishing. Anglers dry fly fishing should look for dry fly action on the slower, open water. Fish the slower water adjacent to the main current. Small flies and light tippet will produce the best results.
