Lake Tahoe Community College, Black History Month @ LTCC Film & Talk
Event Description: 
Celebrate and explore Black History Month at Lake Tahoe Community College with a free film and discussion on Friday February 21 at 6pm in LTCC's Duke Theatre! Join us for a free screening of the Marvel film, "Black Panther," and stick around for an enlightening talk about the film's impact with CSU Sacramento's Dr. John Johnson. Hosted by LTCC's Equity Department.
Discussion topics will include Afrotourism, black cultural motifs, and how Black Panther fits into the broader Marvel Universe of characters and stories. Dr. Johnson will explore race-blending, white washing in Hollywood and beyond, and the importance of representation in mass media and the need for critical media literacy. This is a free event, and all are welcome!
 
The Duke Theatre is located inside the Fine Arts building on LTCC's campus, located at One College Drive off of Al Tahoe Blvd. in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. Parking on campus is free and ample. For more information about LTCC, visit www.ltcc.edu or call (530) 541-4660.
