Also known as the Red Rocker, Sammy Hagar spent several years as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the mid '70s hard rock band Montrose before he began a solo career that produced several hits — including the top (and relatable) tune "I Can't Drive 55." But it was when he replaced David Lee Roth as the frontman of Van Halen that Hagar truly catapulted to success.
