Donner Party Hikes
The Donner Party Hike event is two days of interpretive hikes that cover a wide range of historical sites in the Donner Summit area. The hikes include topics such as Native American historical sites, pioneer wagon trains traveling in the Donner Summit area, construction of the trans-continental railroad, construction and use of the first roads in the Donner Summit area, historic landmarks and beautiful scenery of Donner Summit and of course the history of the Donner Party. The hikes start at 8:30 am on Saturday, September 14th and finish with a catered lunch and a lunchtime speaker (author of Desperate Passage.) There are also hikes on Sunday that focus particularly on the Donner Party.
